Credit reporting agency Equifax has promoted Lisa M. Nelson to president. In her 10 years with the company, Nelson has served as group managing director for Equifax’s operations in Australia and New Zealand, president of Equifax Canada and Vice President of Enterprise Alliances for Equifax in the U.S., according to an announcement.

Equifax CEO Mark Begor said in a news release he is “energized” to have Nelson in this role, where she’ll be responsible for increasing the company’s footprint in five regions and 23 nations, including Canada, India, Latin America and Europe.

“Lisa is an impressive global leader who is laser focused on customers, driving growth, and developing her team,” said Begor. “She is a strong, authentic leader with a proven track record of inspiring teams to achieve results and deliver for our customers. Lisa has clearly demonstrated her ability to develop and deliver on strategic priorities and drive core growth in two significant regions within Equifax.”

Nelson’s key focus will be “advancing and leveraging the Equifax cloud technology transformation for growth, and building new product and innovation pipelines to accelerate revenues,” the company said.

Replacing Nelson as managing director in Australia and New Zealand will be Melanie Cochrane, who comes to Equifax from American Express. Her most recent role was as general manager of merchant services for American Express’ Asia Pacific operations.

Equifax posted first-quarter results last month that indicated continuing outperformance measured against its key markets, such as mortgages and workforce solutions geared toward managing payroll, tax and verification activities.

These adjusted earnings per share of $1.97 exceeded expectations by 42 cents, while revenues, which rose 26 percent year over year to $1.2 billion, outpaced Wall Street predictions by $90 million, PYMNTS reported in April.
