Paysafe, the payments platform, will now be letting payments happen on the Microsoft Store or Xbox via the company’s eCash solution called paysafecard, a press release says.
Paysafecard allows users to use cash to shop for goods and services online.
They can utilize a 16-digit code and access payments that are securely transmitted through simple and secure means.
They can use online accounts to combine credit balances as well, a report says, without needing sensitive data like bank accounts or credit card details. This also means an extended service between the two companies, in which the eCash payment option was added on Xbox, is now available in 22 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K.
The companies, according to a press release, have collaborated on numerous things including Paysafe recently adopting Microsoft’s open cloud computing program to help it work with payment processing in the U.S.
“Integrating paysafecard on Microsoft Store on Xbox will provide an important alternative payment method for millions of customers,” said Udo Müller, CEO of paysafecard. “Paysafecard has been popular within the gaming space for some time, providing a simple and safe online cash payment solution for gamers. It’s an inclusive option for those who might not have traditional bank accounts and provides an easy way to manage entertainment budgets.”
Trevor Nies, senior director of global payments and risk at Microsoft, said the new partnership would make the company “able to provide cash-based customers access to our digital content on Xbox consoles through a reliable, easy and secure alternative payment method.”
Microsoft also recently debuted its Xbox Cloud Gaming service, which PYMNTS writes will be invite-only at first and will cost $14.99 per month per month and come with access to around 100 titles.
