Yesterday (Aug. 20) marked the official launch of Donde Fashion, which facilitates a visually based search format. Rather than requiring its users to enter text to find the clothes they’re looking for, Donde Fashion (the first word of the brand name taken from the Spanish for “where”) offers them the ability to select from icons representing a range of details for clothing options, such as color, pattern, type of neckline, length of pant leg, et al.
TechCrunch reports that Donde Fashion — which receives a portion of each transaction made through the platform — currently offers items from over 6,000 brands, including Banana Republic, Zara, J. Crew, Bloomingdale’s and Barney’s New York. The outlet adds that the app includes a social component and a wish-list feature.
Explaining the genesis of the platform on the company blog, Liat Zakay, founder and CEO of Donde Fashion, wrote: “I created Donde Fashion to address my own frustrations with shopping … Whenever I searched for similar looks — either online or in stores — it took me hours to find what I was looking for.”
“After talking to other women,” Zakay continues in the post, “I realized I was not alone, and the system was broken. When we imagine an outfit, we’re thinking of what it looks like — not the words used to describe it. Therefore, we should be searching with visuals — not text! This is what Donde Fashion accomplishes. Whether it’s clothing, shoes or handbags, you can now search by visuals and find exactly what you’re looking for in seconds.”
Donde Fashion is currently available on iOS.
