If you, or someone you know, received a Martha Stewart Collection 10-piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set from Macy’s for Christmas, it would be advisable to avoid a couple of the frying pans in it.
The eight-inch and 10-inch frying pans from the set are being recalled by Macy’s, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Tuesday (Dec. 29), citing seven reports of the metal discs of said pans popping off and causing three injuries described as bruises, burns and welts.
In its report, the CPSC urges consumers to immediately cease use of the apparently defective frying pans, while noting that the other items from the cookware set are not affected by the recall. The frying pans can be returned at Macy’s locations or on Macys.com for store credit equaling their full value.
The 10-piece Martha Stewart Collection Set that included the offending frying pans, which were manufactured in China, was sold between Jan. 2011 and Sept. 2015 at Macy’s stores (as well as on the retailer’s website) for about $170, as well as at Military Exchanges for $90. The pans can be returned at the latter locations for a full refund.
The CPSC also notes that about 121,000 units all told are being affected by the recall.
