CFPB Bolsters Its Ranks

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said on Tuesday (April 12) that it is adding half a dozen professionals to a number of leadership positions at the organization.

    Elizabeth Ellis has now been designated by the CFPB as deputy associate director for the external affairs division, while having served earlier with the CFPB’s financial institute and business liaison efforts.

    Seth Frotman takes his place as the agency’s student loan ombudsman, while he had been in that role previously, though on an acting basis.

    Katherine Gillespie will be deputy associate director of the consumer education and engagement division.

    Elsewhere, Grady Hedgespeth joined the CFPB. Hedgespeth will serve as assistant director for the office of small business lending markets. Previously, he was director of the office of economic opportunity for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

    Chris Johnson, previously serving on an acting basis with the office of consumer response, now takes over as full-time assistant director.

    John Schroeder is now the Midwest regional director of the office of supervision examinations and, like some of his brethren, takes over after a stint on an interim basis.

    In a statement that accompanied the announcement, CFPB Director Richard Cordray said: “I am very pleased to announce these new additions and updates to the CFPB leadership team.”
