Small-Business Owners Rally on Capitol Hill to Support Durbin
The “Reform Swipe Fees Now” group organized a March 10 gathering on Capitol Hill to urge Congress not to alter the Durbin Amendment of the Dodd-Frank financial overhaul bill.
“Dozens of small-business owners descended… to urge lawmakers to protect a provision that caps the fees banks can charge retailers for debit card transactions,” reported the Hill.
Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) told attendees that Durbin was aimed at giving merchants “a fair shot,” according to the website.
Sen. Durbin, who authored the amendment, was apparently unable to make the event due to a scheduling issue. Click here to read more about the Reform Swipe Fees Now rally on Capitol Hill.
