MasterCard, Telefonica Launch LatAm Joint Venture

    Late last month, the companies agreed to work together to bring mobile payment services to 87 million customers spread across 12 Latin American submarkets. This week, that effort has a new name, and a new team of corporate executives furthering the venture’s goals.

    Sergio Regueros will lead Wanda. Prior to his new assignment, Regueros was regional director for Telefónica’s mobile business for northern Latin America, which includes Mexico and Central America. He will be joined by Wes Rivel, Marco Sa, Pablo Montesano and Rodolfo Duran.

    The MasterCard/Telefonica joint venture will be headquartered in Miami, where the companies already have more than 50 employees on staff.
