Together with the new touchscreen capability, the new MacBooks will be lighter than current models, will feature OLED screens for sharper displays and will include the Dynamic Island on-screen interface used on iPhones, according to the report.

The new iPad mini will also include an OLED screen, as well as a videoconferencing camera and revamped speakers, the report said.

Apple will also introduce versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac that are equipped with M6 chips and designed for video production, photo editing and music production, per the report.

An Apple spokesperson declined Bloomberg’s invitation to comment on the claims, per the report.

These new devices will be introduced in a product launch event that will include an online video presentation as well as in-person attendance by the press, according to the report.

The event will come about two weeks after an Oct. 13 event focused on Apple’s new smart home devices, which were previously reported by Bloomberg.

Bloomberg reported Sept. 30 that the Oct. 13 event will see Apple introduce a new smart home product and updated ones.

The new product is a smart home hub that will recognize the user; display that person’s contacts, messages, calendar appointments, notes and preferred app layout; and respond to questions with answers that are based on that person’s data, according to the report, which cited unnamed sources.

Apple’s updated smart home products will include the first update to its HomePod mini since the company introduced that product in 2020, and Apple’s first new TV set-top box since 2022, the report said.

Bloomberg reported Tuesday (Oct. 6) that the Oct. 13 product launch will also include outdoor security cameras, floodlight cameras, indoor security cameras, doorbells, thermostats and smart deadbolt locks developed with LG Electronics.

The launch marks an official reboot of Apple’s HomeKit, which the company introduced in 2014, the report said.

Bloomberg News reported Sept. 29 that Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, wants a leaner company that is quicker at developing products.
