“Business model is the key thing when it comes to payments companies,” said former Visa president and current General Atlantic Managing Director Hans Morris at a panel discussion hosted by NYPAY this week.
Morris, part of the judging panel for PYMNTS.com’s inaugural Innovator Awards, offered remarks about the things that set the industry’s most successful companies apart from the rest. He argued that new regulations — namely the Durbin Amendment — have made it difficult to innovate in the space, but that companies like PayPal and Discover show there’s still room for new ideas in the industry.
