Square issued a cease and desist letter to mobile payment competitor mPowa, alleging that the U.K. firm is using an image on its website that looks nearly identical to a photograph featured on Square’s own site.
“We recently became aware of what appears to be mPowa’s blatant copying of an image from the Square Website for use on mPowa’s own website,” the letter, acquired by TechCrunch, reads. It also asks that mPowa provide an explanation for how the image arrived on the site, and “whether and to what extent mPowa has investigated whether other proprietary efforts of Square have been duplicated.”
