    Smartphone growth in emerging countries such as Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh should help to push the number of smartphone owners over the top, according to Quartz. The International Data Corporation also forecasts that by 2017, 70 percent of all smartphones shipped will ship to emerging markets.
