“We’re thrilled to be taking a new step with The Apprentice. It’s not easy being a merchant in this economy, thanks to President Obama, and MCX can help get America back on track,” said Donald Trump, host of The Apprentice. “The Apprentice is all about improving and expanding enterprises that are already successful: something we think will tie in perfectly with MCX’s mission.”

MCX said they plan to offer a specific product or solution shortly after their CEO is named.

“We’ve had a bear of time finding a new CEO who can go toe-to-toe, eyeball-to-eyeball, mano-a-mano with the networks,” said Walmart Payments Exec Mike Chef. “We’re thrilled Donald Trump has given us this incredible opportunity.”

Each week candidates will be given a new task to separate the dregs from the stars. In the first episode, the apprentices will form teams and try to start NFC-based payment systems in selected American towns. It is rumored that several ex-Google Wallet employees have applied to be on the show.
