Square Exec Reveals Recommendation Engine Plans

    “We can tell you that people who like X might also like Y — and it’s a true representation of what you’ve bought,” Varma said. “I think we can do something a lot better.”

    The recommendation engine would build off Square’s discovery project, described as a “Square-only version of the Yellow Pages,” but would use personal payments and geographic location data to offer suggestions and possibly deals to Square users. Square gave no timeline for when its recommendations feature will roll out to the public.
