Lyft announced its first expansion on Friday, as TechCrunch reported that the California-based peer-to-peer ridesharing company would be expanding to Boston. The move will make Boston Lyft’s first East Coast city.
TechCrunch says its services were to begin with a “friends and family” launch on Friday, to be followed by the full start of operations in the metro area starting Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
Lyft will not be the first company in the ridesharing space to come to Boston, as the media outlet notes that Rival SideCar has been operating in the city since March.
