PayPal has sent emails to some users falsely informing them of winning €500, The Next Web reported.
The email prompts users to simply log in to their accounts to retrieve the winnings, causing many to mistake the email for spam. On its PayPal Germany Facebook page, however, PayPal has admitted that the email is a result of an internal error.

“Unfortunately, this e-mail has been sent due to a technical error. For this we apologize. The draw has not yet taken place. We just identify the transactions of our customers who are eligible. Then it will be our raffle among the eligible customers and the winners will be notified in a separate e-mail,” [Bing Translation] a company spokesperson wrote on the page.
