Uganda To Switch Off All Unregistered SIM Cards By August

The Uganda Commutations Commission is responding to news about SIM card fraud warnings, and has announced it will be switching off all unregistered SIM cards in the country by August 31, reported HumanIPO.

    UCC’s executive director, Godfrey Mutabazi, commented, ” “We are going to run announcements in the media about this deadline so that at the end of August nobody will have an excuse.”

    The director noted that at present 90 percent of consumers have already registered their SIM cards. He also announced researchers were currently working to develop a study that will determine the number of counterfeit phones in Uganda’s network. The study should be completed by September.
