UniCredit, First Data Announce Long-Term Deal

European commercial bank UniCredit has selected Georgia-based payment processor First Data as its newest partner to further its mobile payment strategy, a September 24 press release revealed.

    UniCredit indicated that the agreement calls for First Data to help it bring a number of products and solutions to the market that will “broaden the range of its payment services.”

    As part of the deal, UniCredit has used First Data’s Mobile Gateway to develop and pilot QR codes for mobile payment in Italy.

    “First Data has proven itself to be a trusted partner for supporting our mobile payments plans internationally,” Paolo Cederle, CEO of UniCredit Business Integrated Solutions, said in a September 24 statement. “In addition to developing and piloting QR Codes we are looking forward to working with First Data’s experienced team in developing new solutions for our clients.”
