Ohio-based security systems company Diebold stated yesterday that it is making a globally available contactless card reader, according to ATM Marketplace. This allows financial institutions to “leverage near field communication at the ATM.”
Using NFC, the interface will read contactless payment cards, NFC-supported mobile devices, and other contactless media. When a contactless card is within a few inches of the Diebold NFC reader, card detection will occur within seconds.
