Kenyan payments provider Safaricom has launched a new online payments service geared toward local traders, HumanIPO reported on December 4.
Safaricom, which operas the country’s largest mobile payments network, is gearing Lipa Na M-Pesa Online to the nation’s small and medium-sized businesses.

“The entry of M-Pesa into the online space is a landmark move that will see more than 18 million M-Pesa customers gain access to the online shopping experience either as entrepreneurs or as customers,” Bob Collymore, Safaricom CEO, told HumanIPO in an interview.
