Report: Hackers Customized Retailer Malware

    Investigators have determined the malware attacks are slightly different from retailer to retailer, the Wall Street Journal reported on Feb. 5.

    William Noonan, a Secret Service cybersecurity specialist who spoke before the House energy and commerce subcommittee on Wednesday, remarked in his testimony that the hackers tailor made the malware in a sophisticated fashion.

    “It’s not an off-the-shelf type of malware. The criminals are modifying and molding specific types of malware,” he said.
