Elusive China License Still Just Out Of Apple’s Reach

    Although China is increasingly representing one of Apple’s larger markets-the Cupertino-based firm projects that Chinese iPhone sales will grow by more than 50 percent over the last year–and sales of the newest iPhone 6 model in China may be delayed due to licensing issues.

    Apple’s new iPhone had been given regulatory approval for use on domestic frequencies, but the phone cannot be sold yet as it lacks a network license.  The Xinhua report did not indicate when this is likely to happen.

    Speculation and uncertainty have abounded when it comes to the iPhone’s Chinese status. Adding to confusion, a Reuters review of documents posted by regulators indicates that Apple has otherwise had full regulatory approval since July.
