Accenture Completes Acquisition of Supply Chain Firm Inspirage

Accenture, The Stable, acquisition, North America

Accenture is expanding its digital supply chain capabilities with the acquisition of Inspirage.

The global professional services company said in a Wednesday (Jan. 4) press release that it has completed the acquisition of the integrated Oracle Cloud specialist firm that has an emphasis on supply chain management. The purchase had been announced Sept. 6.

With the completion of the acquisition, Accenture enhances its Oracle Cloud capabilities, helps it deliver touchless supply chain, digital twins and other emerging technologies to its clients, and bolsters its Oracle supply chain skills by adding 736 Inspirage people, according to the release.

Emerging technologies are increasingly being applied to solve longstanding challenges in supply chains. The use of so-called digital twins, for example, helps companies create a complete, real-time picture of what’s happening in their business that allows them to visualize ways of improving operations and addressing out pinch points.

Anheuser-Busch InBev uses digital twins of its breweries to watch the chemical and fermentation processes in the brew kettles in real time, SpaceX uses digital twins to monitor its capsules and make adjustments on the fly, and Sotheby’s uses digital twins to showcase and sell digital art non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The digital transformation of industries also includes enhancing supply chain efficiency by using Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain technologies.

When announcing its agreement to acquire Inspirage in September, Accenture said Inspirage was founded in 2007 and serves clients in verticals within the high tech, life sciences, manufacturing, consumer goods, retail, and oil and gas industries.

“In a time of unprecedented disruption and supply constraints, companies need to reimagine, build and operate supply chain networks that orchestrate change, simplify people’s lives and positively impact business, society and the planet,” Renato Scaff, North America lead of Accenture supply chain and operations, said in the Sept. 6 announcement. “With the addition of Inspirage and its deep industry and systems experience, Accenture will be even better positioned to help our clients reinvent supply chain and manufacturing through Oracle technologies.”

Inspirage CEO and Co-founder Srini Subramanian said at the time that by joining with Accenture, the Inspirage team could deliver their highly specialized capabilities at scale and enjoy new growth opportunities.

The completion of this deal follows some other acquisitions made by Accenture.

In July, the firm agreed to acquire The Stable, a commerce agency that helps consumer brands build and operate digital commerce channels as well as manage their sales performance with important North American retailers.

Accenture said at the time that it wanted to keep investing in commerce and helping clients grow and stay relevant.

In June, the company bought tech consultancy firm Advocate Networks, a managed service provider for business management solutions.

Accenture said that Advocate’s team would join its Technology Strategy and Advisory team and help clients “define, architect and measure value” from their digital and cloud transformations.
