Amazon Doubles Walmart’s Web Traffic In March

According to the latest figure from comScore, Amazon had a very, very good March.

The newly released figures indicated that Amazon received 180.97 million unique visitors – making it the most visited retail site on the Web – and the fifth most trafficked (non-porn) site out there.  Google, Facebook, Yahoo and Microsoft – the four websites visited more than Amazon – have some limited retail offerings but are not predominantly eCommerce outfits.

Among retail outfits, Amazon outpaces the competition by a fair distance – eBay, the #2 retail site on the list, had a little over 100 million visitors during the same time period.

The only “traditional” retail player to even make it into the top 50 was Walmart, which hit just below the halfway point on the list at 21 with 91.9 million unique visitors. That means for every one visitor Walmart got, Amazon essentially got two.

But Amazon trails the #1 spot holder on the list by an even more impressive margin. Google grabbed up 243.56 million unique visitors in March across its properties, though it is notable that Amazon (despite trailing) is closer in unique views to Google than it is to Walmart.

Other putative retailers that made the Top 50 included Netflix and semi-retail oriented Apple, Twitter, Pinterest, PayPal, Groupon and Disney online.
