Mondee Holdings has introduced a mobile-first artificial intelligence (AI) platform with integrated multi-party conversational commerce.
With the integration of this new Abhi platform, the Mondee Travel Marketplace offers a combination of leading technologies such as generative AI, deep learning, computer vision and a recommendation engine that allows users to personalize and transform their travel booking process, the company said in a Wednesday (July 19) press release.
“We are thrilled to introduce a new AI technology platform to our innovative journey and consumer travel experiences, which we expect will transform the travel marketplace, Mondee Founder, CEO and Chairman Prasad Gundumogula said in the release.
The Mondee AI cloud platform also implemented a commerce engine, FinTech tools and considerable enhancements that boost the capabilities of Mondee’s AI-based marketplace, according to the release.
The new mobile-first AI platform, Abhi, is a one-stop-shop for users. It grants customers access to expertise and curation ability and allows them to book more distinctive, localized and personalized experiences, the release said.
“We are changing the travel industry once again by providing travel influencers, local experts and agents with unprecedented access and complete travel content in our unified Marketplace, as well as cutting-edge technology, such as Abhi, the AI platform with conversational commerce, to conveniently create and deliver personalized travel experiences,” Gundumogula said in the release.
PYMNTS research has found that many consumers are using travel apps, aggregators and platforms to help them do everything from commuting to planning vacations.
Between January 2022 and January 2023, consumers using these digital tools to support their travel and commuting needs increased by 14%, according to “The ConnectedEconomy Monthly Report: Digitally Divided: Work, Health and the Income Gap.”
In another use of AI in the travel space, online travel agency Priceline teamed with Google in June to let Priceline’s customers engage with a generative AI-powered chatbot and see more personalized offerings when seeking hotels.
Two months before that, in April, travel website Expedia launched an “in-app travel planning experience” powered by OpenAI’s generative AI tool, ChatGPT. This tool enables Expedia members to start an open-ended conversation in the app and get recommendations based on the conversation.
