New Yorkers can now make campaign donations by sending a text messages, the New York Daily News reported on November 27.
Donations will be capped at $99 per person, for each candidate and each election cycle.
“We hope to make it easier for people who may not be otherwise connected to political campaigns to participate,” sponsor Gale Brewer (D-Manhattan) told the Daily News in an interview. “The bill is a smart way to merge technology and good government.”
