Consumer Economic Confidence Remains High: Discover

The Discover U.S. Spending Monitor remained at 89.0 in December, as consumer confidence in the economy rose to its highest level since July. However, consumers’ spending intentions declined, according to Discover Financial Services.

    Significantly more respondents believed economic conditions were improving heading into 2014, Discover noted in a Jan. 8 press release.

    The Spending Monitor is a six-year-old daily poll tracking economic confidence and spending intentions of nearly 8,200 consumers throughout the month.
