GoTab, Mastercard Partner to Enhance Digital Checkout

GoTab, a restaurant commerce platform, has partnered with Mastercard to eliminate the need to manually enter card details at hospitality venues in the United States, the Virginia-based company announced Thursday (March 31).

Dubbed Click to Pay, the feature promises consumers a more convenient and secure checkout experience across devices and channels, GoTab said.

Built on secure remote commerce industry standards, the tool simplifies checkout and makes it safer to check out online without having to recall passwords or enter card details, the company said.

After opening a tab on a smartphone through a QR code at GoTab-operated venues, customers can save their Mastercard payment information to Click to Pay.

“Mastercard Click to Pay is the perfect solution to simplify and make the checkout process easier, faster, and completely seamless,” said GoTab CEO Tim McLaughlin in a statement. “As we get ready to process $1 billion in GMV (gross merchandise value) in 2022, we are honored to work with Mastercard to enable our operators to deliver a safe and enjoyable guest experience.”

GoTab said it recently introduced Click to Pay at a number of Stone Brewing locations in California and Virginia. The Escondido, California-based company calls itself the largest brewery in Southern California.

“Our guests were already big fans of GoTab, but the convenience and security of Click to Pay made the payment experience even better,” said Gregg Frazer, vice president of hospitality at Stone Brewing, in a statement.

Last week, PYMNTS reported sunday, which calls itself the world’s fastest restaurant payment solution, announced an Order & Pay feature.

The company is also offering open-ended payment processing for a variety of point-of-sale systems, which will allow customers to scan QR codes at dine-in tables and payment counters. Scanning the QR code gives customers instant access to a digital menu.
