Big Four Telcos, Payment Networks Lead ETA’s Mobile Payments Committee

All four major U.S. mobile network operators — AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon — have joined MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover on the Electronic Transactions Association’s new Mobile Payments Committee, a release says.

    The new group will “develop and implement industry-wide solutions to the complex policy and business issues surrounding the emergence of mobile payments in the U.S and globally,” the release explains.

    Jackie Moran, Executive Director of Federal Relations for Verizon, chairs the group. Other companies being represented include Google, Isis, Capital One, PayPal, VeriFone, Intuit, First Data, Panasonic and Neustar.
