The National Grocers Association has joined the ranks of merchants opposed to the recent settlement reached with Visa, MasterCard and their issuer partners over interchange fees on credit card transactions.
In a statement, NGA CEO Peter Larkin said the settlement “allow[s] Visa and MasterCard to continue their dominant anticompetitive practices,” adding that the agreement would force both merchants and consumers to “continue to pay exorbitant swipe fees with no hope of reform.”
The NGA represents more than 1,200 independent grocers, wholesalers and manufacturers.
