PayPal Loses VP Product As Departures Continue

Sam Shrauger, vice president of global product and experience at PayPal, will resign from the firm.

According to PayPal’s executive bios, Shrauger joined PayPal in 2004 as a founding member of the firm’s merchant services business unit. He named as a key player in integrating Bill Me Later into PayPal’s business following the former’s acquisition in 2008.

Shrauger will likely join Scott Thompson at Yahoo, according to All Things D. Last week, PayPal communications director Amanda Pires made a similar move, leaving the eBay subsidiary to join Thompson’s new team.

Several other members of the payments leadership team at eBay and PayPal have resigned recently. Prior to Shrauger and Pires’ announcements:

• Neal Sample left eBay to work on American Express’ Serve platform;

•  Carl-Olav Scheible went from PayPal to MoneyGram as that company’s new executive vice president, Europe, Africa and Emerging Channels; and

•  Alyssa Cutright resigned as Vice President of Products for North America at PayPal to join Square.

A memo from PayPal President David Marcus obtained by All Things D shows that Marcus will assume Shrauger’s responsibilities in the interim, while the company seeks a replacement. More is available at ATD’s site.
