Currently, roughly 15 percent of U.S. retailers offer gift cards that can immediately be used to make a purchase with a smartphone device, according to a survey cited by Time’s Moneyland blog.
Another 61 percent of retailers hope to incorporate such services into their offerings over the next three years, the survey says.
