Sweden’s Pirate Party Presses Charges Against Banks’ Wikileaks Blockade

The Swedish Pirate Party has pressed charges against Swedish banks for their discrimination against WikiLeaks. The pirate party says the blockade is a threat against freedom of opinion and expression. The decision to file formal charges is part of the party’s decision to push regulation over payment giants like Visa, MasterCard and PayPal in Europe which also refused, arbitrarily, to refuse service to WikiLeaks. The party was founded in 2006 and holds two seats in the European Parliament.
