Chinese eCommerce company Alipay is piloting a program letting vending machines accept sound-based mobile payments, according to Finextra.

    Two vending machines have been installed on the Metro 4 Line in Beijing, with more planned for release. To make purchases, consumers use the Alipay mobile wallet and hold their phone up to a sensor on the machines, which communicates payments data via sound.
