Barclays’ Pingit, Corethree Team Up For Mobile Ticketing Solution

Pingit, the mobile payments service by Barclays, announced a new partnership with Corethree, a mobile ticketing company, to integrate a mobile checkout option for transport ticketing. Users with an iPhone or an Android can use the application to browse, select, purchase and use bus tickets.

The solution has already been deployed to Wessex Bus’ Uniconnect network in Bath. Over the next year, Corethree and Barclays will launch their mobile payment services to various transport operators with the goal of reaching over one million passenger journeys each day. This partnership represents the first UK tech company (Corethree) to integrate the Pingit mobile checkout solution.

Mike Walters, head of UK Corporate Payments at Barclays, stated, “With [an] increasing numbers of consumers using smart phones while they’re on the move, it’s never been more important to have a seamless payment process that is completely optimised for the m-commerce environment. Barclays Pingit ‘mobile checkout’ offers this, and by integrating with Corethree’s m-ticketing platform, we can ensure that consumers have the ease and convenience they want at their fingertips.”
