IZettle, a social payments company, revealed its Chip & PIN and Chip & Signature readers are now accepting Japan Credit Bureau (JCB) cards. This announcement makes iZettle the first mPOS provider in Europe to offer JCB acceptance in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Merchants who use iZettle’s technology for JCB card payments will be charged a 2.75 percent transaction fee, which is the same as other supported cards.
“We’re proud to add JCB to our accepted cards for our card readers,” said Jacob de Geer, iZettle CEO and co-founder. “Millions of Asian tourists visit Europe every year especially in the summer. Now tourists don’t have to worry about carrying cash and iZettle customers don’t have to turn business away.”
UPDATE: PYMNTS.com has heard from mobile payments company Handpoint, which clarifies that it’s been accepting JCP card payments in Iceland since April 15, 2013. iZettle does not operate in Iceland at this time.
