Location-Based Coupons Spur In-Store Buying

Online coupon issuer RetailMeNot and market research provider Omnibus Company have revealed the results of a new study of mobile coupon shoppers, Mobile Commerce Daily reports. Researchers found that 51 percent of shoppers are more likely to buy products at physical retail locations if they are first given a location-based mobile coupon.

    “Serving up the right content at the right time in the shopping cycle is the difference between a completed transaction versus a consumer who walks out of your store,” John Faith, VP of external affairs at RetailMeNot, said. 

    The survey found members of younger demographics were more likely to take advantage of these deals. Thirty-nine percent of consumers 18 to 34 years old reported using a mobile coupon in a brick-and-mortar store, compared to 18 percent of survey takers over 35 years old.
