NFC Pilot To Launch In Holland By Fall 2013

Dutch banks ABN Amro, ING and Rabobank in Leiden announced the launch of an NFC pilot program in August or early September 2013, reports NFC World. Together the three banks have established a new group, called Mobile Payments Netherlands, which will organize the pilot program.

Rabobank said to NFC World, “The trial hasn’t started yet because it is going to take another couple of months to prepare merchants and consumers before we can start the pilot. The launch is now planned for the end of August, early September.”

KPN, the mobile operator, the municipality of Leiden along with MasterCard will also participate with the launch. The NFC pilot will include 1,000 customers with an account at any of the tree banks are also carrier customers.
