RBS Will Likely Cut 1,400 Jobs In Edinburgh Offices

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) announced that they will be cutting a further 1,400 jobs from retail banking head office in the coming two years, reports BBC News. Allegedly, most of the job cuts will be from the bank’s offices in Edinburgh, Scotland. Since the bailout, RBS previously announced over 35,000 job cuts. There are currently 3,200 people employed at the RBS head retail office, which is 40 percent based in Edinburgh.

BBC News reports that RBS bank said in a statement, “This is clearly difficult news for our staff and we will do everything we can to support them, including seeking redeployment opportunities wherever possible to ensure compulsory redundancies are as a last resort.”
