UPS: eCommerce Returns To Rise 15%

New data from the United Parcel Service (UPS) predicts that eCommerce returns will rise 15 percent this year due to free shipping offers and lax return policies from eCommerce companies, The Wall Street Journal reported on December 22.

As a result, eCommerce sellers are looking to incentivize consumers to keep more purchases. For example, daily deals provider Rue La La is testing a program that gives consumers greater access to their purchasing history and access to sizing data.

This will include personalized messages that encourage consumers to choose certain sizes based on past purchases. Other sellers like Modnique.com is seeking to incentivize beauty and jewelry products, which get returned less often.
