Volkswagen Bank, one of first banks in Germany, joined by Visa Europe, announced the launching of a new mobile payment solution this September. The mobile payments scheme will begin with a pilot phase that includes 500 Volkswagen Bank clients. Each day these participants will test mobile payments using their iPhone.
In the trial stage the technology solution will only be available for the iPhone 4/4sn and 5. By 2014, the solution will be extended to Android users.
Ottmar Bloching, general manager of Visa Europe in Germany, said, “The future of payment is contactless and mobile. Smartphones are becoming more and more popular and will naturally be used as payment instruments. As the project with the Volkswagen Bank shows, we are delivering to our members the kind of service they need to satisfy their customers needs.”
