Amazon Primed To Release SmartPhone This Year

After years of speculation, Amazon is finally going to release a smart phone of its very own, reports The Wall Street Journal.

According to a company spokesman, the e-retail giant plans to launch itself onto the field of competition with Apple and Samsung with an announcement in June  and the a first shipment in September.

Amazon hopes to set itself apart with a phone that can displace 3-D images without the use of special glasses by using retina-tracking technology embedded in four front-facing cameras, to make some images appear to be 3-D. A similar concept is behind a hologram.

Amazon would bring with it a different attitude than most in the already crowded and cut-throat phone market.  CEO Jeff Bezos has said that Amazon is less interested in profiting on hardware, like its Kindle Fire tablets for example, than they are at breaking even on hardware and making money on Amazon services provided through their devices.
