Under its innocuous name, Bison (Bitcoin Identity Security Open Network), the system aims to instill greater trust and confidence in a virtual currency ecosystem beset with security headaches, according to a report in Finextra.

Bison recognizes customers’ driver’s licenses and passports to populate transaction forms and will soon interface with various exchanges. Customers hold the document up to their device’s camera, and Jumio’s technology scans and validates the information while extracting personal information and populating he data into the transaction form.

Jumio in September added “Face Match” to its ID verification product.
