Panera 2.0 Introduces Mobile Sandwich Ordering

Panera Bread Company is updating the casual dining experience by adding kiosks, mobile and Web automation to the ordering experience, as well as table-delivery in its bakery- cafes.

The forthcoming Panera 2.0 upgrades aim at reducing or eliminating wait times in restaurants by automating the ordering process and allowing customers to place their orders and specify delivery instructions while they are still en route to the restaurant.

Mobile and kiosk ordering are already available in some locations, but nationwide roll-out is set to go in 2015-2016.

The total cost of the overhaul will be $42 million, or approximately $125,000 per store.
