The outage, which affected both iPhone and Android PayPal apps, resulted in an error screen that read “Were [sic] sorry, were [sic] having some trouble completing your request at the moment. Please try again shortly, and if it persists let us know.”

Problems signing in were reported by users in Florida, the U.K. and Latvia.

On Monday, PayPal didn’t explain the source of the problem but issued an apology: “We know that some of our customers may have had issues paying with PayPal for a short time today. We have resolved the problem and encourage anyone who was unable to make a payment to try again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Some eBay customers also told Product Reviews.Net that they were unable to pay for items purchased through eBay. It’s not clear whether those problems were related to server upgrades that eBay had planned for last week, but were expected to be completed by Friday (Oct. 31). During those upgrades, eBay suspended some reporting functions for eBay affiliates, the company said.
