PayPal has around 1.4 million Belgian accounts, but only half of those are active. The recent PayPal move, however, will allow Belgian customers to link their bank accounts and PayPal accounts for payment methods. Previously, only PayPal accounts in the country allowed credit cards or bank transfers as payment methods. This move may also help ignite those dormant PayPal accounts in the country. Worldwide, PayPal has roughly 156 million active accounts.

“The company aims to make its service more attractive to online shops using it as a payment method,” the report said.
