Staples reportedly plans to close 225 stores by 2015, or 10 percent of its global footprint, as online sales now account for about half of over all sales.

Full-years sales figures were $23.1 billion in 2013, with $11.5 billion in online sales, according to TechCrunch.

The move comes as more brick-and-mortar stores see their sales moving to online and mobile venues. Market Platform Dynamic CEO Karen Webster reported about brick-and-mortar store’s death spiral in a recent commentary.
