UK’s Largest Loyalty Program Goes Digital

Nectar, a longstanding loyalty program that allows customers to collect points from online retailers and brick-and-mortar retailers in the U.K., announced the launch of a digital rewards platform called Nectar Tickets yesterday (June 10).

“Through a partnership with Monitise, a leading digital commerce provider, Nectar Tickets allows consumers to use their Nectar points to unlock exclusive deals for events nationwide such as theatre, comedy, live music, exhibitions and museums, at a fraction of the cost and directly on site,” the company said in a statement.

According to Nectar, 19 million collectors currently earn points through the program when shopping for groceries, doing projects, booking vacations, paying household bills, buying gas and even getting their car serviced. Nectar points can also be earned by shopping at the 500 leading online retailers available through the company’s website.

The collaboration with Monitise, which specializes in banking, paying and buying with mobile devices, opens the door for Nectar’s large network of users to redeem points in a new ways.

Nectar Tickets provides loyalty cardholders the opportunity to use points for entertainment, while also enjoying offers that will only be available for program members. The company is making these events more affordable by offering 50 percent off deals and two-for-one tickets for select performances.

Customers can utilize the new Nectar Tickets site to search for events, select their seats and confirm the number of Nectar points they wish to spend.

“Every 500 points redeemed will take £2.50 (almost $4) off the total price, which can be topped up with cash to purchase tickets right there and then,” Nectar stated. “Not only that, through Nectar Tickets, customers can get access to one-off experiences including meeting their favorite band or joining the stage during a show.”

Nectar’s attempt to boost its rewards program by adding a new digital platform comes at a time when many companies are utilizing loyalty perks and rewards to keep consumers coming back for more.
