Royal Caribbean Chooses Tungsten For Global Supplier Support

For companies that do business on a global scale, supplier relationships can be complicated thanks to tax rules, currency exchanges and language barriers. But the hurdles don’t stop corporations from doing going international; Instead, those companies are now looking for payment solutions providers that can support those far-reaching needs.

As a firm that works with suppliers the world over, Royal Caribbean Cruises says it found a company to reach its unique demands when it comes to B2B transactions. The firm announced Monday (Feb. 16) that it has chosen Tungsten Corporation to help the cruise line better manage its payments processes with suppliers.

Tungsten, which specializes in e-invoicing and analytics on a global scale, will offer is accounts payable automation service platform DocuSphere for Royal Caribbean; Tungsten acquired DocuSphere in 2014.

The cruise company’s decision to go with Tungsten reportedly had much to do with Tungsten’s cross-border resources, a growing need as B2B commerce goes global. According to Tungsten CEO for the Americas Rick Hurwitz, the company well meet the multinational demands of Royal Caribbean. “Royal Caribbean receives invoices from suppliers based all over the world, so it was important for them to work with a provider that is tax compliant in multiple countries and legal jurisdictions, and offers support in multiple languages.”

Plus, Tungsten said, Royal Caribbean currently uses the JD Edwards Accounts Payable software, in which Tungsten can fully integrate.

The issue of cross-border transactions in the B2B realm has raised significant barriers for buyers and suppliers. And, as authorities crack down on money laundering, the regulations surrounding cross-boarder payments continue to tighten. Still, the digital migration of B2C commerce and, increasingly, B2B commerce, means buyers are demanding an international marketplace – meaning suppliers, and the companies that facilitate those transactions, must be up for the challenges.
