American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) President Susan Sobbott will reportedly leave the position in February, according to reports in Business Travel News.
The publication said an internal memo within American Express noted Sobbott will depart to pursue opportunities to become a CEO outside the company. She will leave on Feb. 1, the publication said, citing the memo written by American Express Global Corporate Services President Steve Squeri.
It’s another shakeup for American Express, as CEO Ken Chenault also plans to leave the firm next month. Squeri will step in as chairman and CEO on Feb. 1.
According to reports, Sobbott has been with American Express for 27 years and took up her current position at its GCS unit in 2014, a time in which American Express separated its commercial travel and card businesses. She replaced Bill Glenn, who moved to president and CEO of the company’s Global Business Travel unit.
Chenault announced his retirement plans in October, the same month the U.S. Supreme Court said it would hear an antitrust lawsuit filed against American Express by Ohio and 11 other states. Plaintiffs accuse American Express of violating competition law through its practice of preventing merchants from encouraging their customers to use card products with fees lower than those charged by Amex.
