ACI Worldwide, the Florida-based electronic payment solutions provider, announced the launch of its UP eCommerce Payments solution, which it says will enable merchants and payment service providers to better capitalize on the $2.2 trillion eCommerce opportunity.

The solution, ACI Worldwide said, has been designed to to help merchants accept locally preferred payment methods and handle cross-border payment processing. The solution underpins ACI’s global network infrastructure, which enables acceptance of over 350 alternative payment methods and connects with an acquirer network that is spread out in 160 countries. It’s especially useful for company’s with legacy payment processing infrastructure, according to a press release.

“To convert online shopper visits into sales revenue, merchants need to deliver a smooth customer journey every step in the purchase process, and the payment is the final link,” said Paul Levine, president of Planet Payment Solutions. “Regardless of channel or country, removing friction from the payments process is integral to maximizing conversions. ACI has not only solved this issue for merchants but has also helped PSPs like ours to significantly grow our revenues.”

The SaaS-based solution is a product of the company’s 2014 acquisition of Retail Decisions (ReD), which offered fraud prevention and management solutions for eCommerce companies, and its 2015 acquisition of PAY.ON, an eCommerce payments solution provider.

“Because today’s consumers are dynamic and demanding, today’s merchants are under ever-increasing pressure to deliver optimal customer experiences or risk customer attrition. In order to succeed and gain market share in this challenging environment, merchants must make payments a seamless part of the consumer experience, a daunting task,” said Mike Braatz, chief product officer of ACI Worldwide. “UP eCommerce Payments makes eCommerce simple, global and secure.”
